Choice Filling Process

  • Candidates should login to the https://josaa.nic.in
  • Candidate has to sign up as a new user in the portal where he/she needs to authenticate by entering the JEE (Main) 2024 Application Number or JEE (Advanced) 2024 login ID.
  • A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number and email address of the candidate.
  • Upon entering the OTP, the system will prompt the candidate to set a password.
  • After this step, the candidate must login with the newly set password, and proceed to future steps such as registration, choice filling, choice freezing etc.
  • Candidates are NOT required to pay any fee.
  • A candidate may be eligible for seat allocation based on one, two, three or all four examinations, viz., JEE (Advanced) 2024, JEE (Main) 2024 B.E. / B.Tech. Paper, JEE (Main) 2024 B.Arch. Paper, and JEE (Main) 2024 B.Plan. Paper.
  • Candidates have an 8-day window to make their choices, which includes 2 mock seat allocations. This 8-day window will not be extended under any circumstances.
  • Candidates must ‘lock’ their choices by the final day of choice filling. If they fail to do so, their last saved choices will be automatically locked when the choice filling deadline is reached.
  • Once locked, a candidate’s choices cannot be edited. However, if a candidate wants to modify their choices after locking but before the choice filling deadline, they can request an unlock through the online JoSAA portal. Upon validation via an OTP sent to their registered mobile and email, the candidate’s choices will be unlocked for editing.

The JoSAA admission process is a crucial way for students to get into prestigious engineering colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs in India. It’s a well-organised system that allocates seats fairly based on JEE Main and Advanced ranks. Starting with registration and choice filling, it leads to securing a spot in your desired college. Staying informed and prepared throughout this process increases your chances of getting into a top-tier institution.

Scholarship

Does NID provide any education loans to students through pre-existing bank tie-ups?
A. No, NID does not have a tie-up with any banks.

Does NID provide any scholarships for a student’s education?
A. NID provides a restricted number of scholarships to deserving candidates. The scholarship details are given to students taking admission in NID. Additionally, NID students get the opportunity to do projects under the tutelage of faculties. These fall into three major categories.

  • Sponsored classroom projects:
Classroom projects were sponsored during the final two years of the NID’s B.Des. program (a total of 4 years) and in the second year of the M.Des. program (spanning 2 ½ years). These projects typically last 4 to 8 weeks and take place within the classroom environment, providing students with opportunities for direct client interaction. The results of these projects are shared with the sponsoring organisation. Budgeting for these projects encompasses various expenses, including faculty time, travel expenses (if necessary), materials, prototype development, and contingencies. If applicable, design fees are charged according to prevailing tax regulations.

  • Industrial Training:
The student undergoes industrial training lasting 6 to 8 weeks under the sponsorship’s supervision, receiving a monthly stipend ranging from 8000 to 10,000/-. This training is integrated into the curriculum, occurring at the conclusion of the third year of the B.Des. program and in the second year of the M.Des. program. During this practical training, students immerse themselves in various facets of design and development, production, marketing, and other relevant areas.

  • Graduation Project:
The graduation project is a six-month project that showcases the student’s ability to provide independent client service with guidance from a faculty member at NID. The student is assigned to draft a proposal for their project. This draft is then taken to faculties for approval. Throughout the project duration, the student is required to have a minimum of three guide visits, during which the guide assesses progress. The project details outlining the outcome are submitted  to the jury, consisting of NID faculty members and external experts, and will be thoroughly assessed by them.

Can international students apply for financial assistance from India?
A. Foreign students must pursue financial aid from their country of residence or domicile.

Tips for Securing Scholarships:

Securing scholarships for your design education at NID requires careful planning, preparation, and diligence. Here are several suggestions to boost your likelihood of securing scholarships.:

  • Start Early: Begin researching scholarship opportunities well in advance of your admission to NID. Many scholarships have early application deadlines, so it’s essential to plan ahead and submit your applications on time.
  • Highlight Your Achievements: Showcase your academic achievements, design skills, extracurricular activities, and any relevant experience in your scholarship applications. Provide evidence of your talent, creativity, and potential for success in the field of design.
  • Prepare a Strong Portfolio: Your design portfolio is a critical component of your scholarship application. Curate a portfolio that showcases your best work, demonstrates your design abilities, and reflects your unique style and perspective.
  • Seek Guidance and Support: Don’t hesitate to seek guidance from teachers, mentors, or career counsellors when applying for scholarships. They can provide valuable advice, feedback, and support throughout the application process.
  • Explore Alternative Funding Sources: In addition to scholarships, consider alternative funding sources such as student loans, grants, part-time work opportunities, and crowdfunding platforms. Explore all available options to finance your education at NID effectively.

Conclusion:
Financing your design education at the National Institute of Design (NID) is an important step towards realising your dreams and aspirations in the field of design. By understanding the fee structure, exploring scholarship opportunities, and implementing effective strategies for securing financial aid, you can embark on your educational journey at NID with confidence and peace of mind. Remember to plan ahead, leverage your talents and achievements, and seek support from mentors and advisors along the way. With determination, perseverance, and the right resources, you can turn your passion for design into a successful and rewarding career path.
